Lewis Park sounds great, especially perhaps for a one-day event what with the "wild areas" and all. And if ya'll think it'll be great and easily accessible for combat practice, let's go ahead and plan to use it as well on the 8th (tentatively pending enough folks).
I got you message to Aaron, John, so hopefully he'll be able to make it.

We accessed Lewis park from a side road off BellsFerry for IFGS a while back near the YMCA site. It may even have been up that road. Ask the ugly Red Orc I believe he knows the way. The park is nice lots of wild areas. Wow, were we actually planning to go up until 6:00? That's fine by me...I could certainly use the exercise. ;-) However, if 3:00 does seem a tad late for most, how about 2:00, then? I might have a dinner theatre rehearsal at 1:00 that day (my main reason for suggesting 3:00), but that's cool -- I'd just be a bit tardy. Won't know for sure 'til around Wednesday or so. Or we could split the difference and go with 2:30... -MikeY --- On Sat, 10/31/09, Bill Bradford <glorendil@gmail. com> wrote: From: Bill Bradford <glorendil@gmail. com> Subject: Re: [ElfstoneLARP] Re: [Friends Gathering] Re: So, who's up for some combat practice? Lewis park is the obvious one around here, very similar to Wildwood. Website says something about one of the entrances being closed, so I'll go wander around and see what the story is. Let's just wait 'til maybe the weekend of the 7th or 8th, preferring Sunday the 8th, personally (I've a show the night of the 7th). This weekend was definitely short notice, but mentioned it anyway on the off-chance that a few folks might be available. So, how about we do this the weekend after next, everyone? Honestly, I believe it's just as well in regards to Wildwood. We could do with another location or two. And out that way is just fine by me, especially since Steve/Bill have most of the props and weapons now. There are some very nifty parks out this way, though (Roswell, Duluth, Buford, etc.), but let's go ahead and meet out that way in the Canton/Woodstock area. Three folks so far are up for it: Tish, Jacob, and Diane (and likely Steve, T.J., and maybe Kristen by proxy). Anyone else? I'd say we need at least 10 people to make this viable. And a little teaser to leave you all with: which genre do you prefer, Conan (sword-and-sorcery) or Firefly/Serenity (sci-fi western)? ;-) -MikeY --- On Thu, 10/29/09, Diane Ela <nirwen.elf@gmail. com> wrote: From: Diane Ela <nirwen.elf@gmail. com> Subject: [Friends Gathering] Re: So, who's up for some combat practice? No idea what the CoM is up to at this point. We may want to check into it prior to committing to meeting at Wildwood tho :-) As for the combat practice, sounds like a plan! If Wildwood isn't available, there are some cool parks near Bill and Steve H's place over in Woodstock/Canton that we could use as well. The air has a slight chill to it now, and autumn is in full, colorful force. Gone are the hot and humid days of Georgia summer, and so, for some of us, thoughts of doing something outdoors without fear of heat exhaustion have reared their ugly heads. And, besides...very few of us have done this in a great, long while (and we could probably use the exercise)! So, I ask you all, good gentles, who's up for a LARP combat gathering? Maybe mix a little meeting in their as well and discuss some options and possibilities. I have some ideas in mind to share. Would like to use the Elfstone rules for the practice, but IFGS would work too. Maybe Wildwood or somewhere better and less "used"? Anyway, let me know soon. I have the occasional matinee performance or rehearsal on Saturday or Sunday, but other than that, my weekends tend to be mostly free for a foam weapon throw-down! ;-) -MikeY --~--~------ ---~--~-- --~------ ------~-- -----~--~ ----~ To post to this group, send email to FriendsGathering@ googlegroups. com For more options, visit this group at http://groups. google.com/ group/FriendsGat hering <http://groups. google.com/ group/FriendsGat hering> -~---------- ~----~--- -~----~-- ----~---- ~------~- -~---
